  • Integral approach

To be able to find an answer to the question of help of people in our society, you get a solid theoretical basis in combination with practice experiences during your training.

As from the first year, we pay attention to humane sciences, law, communication, to different domains of the social field of work and to the practice by means of learning tasks in the integral social work. In the second year we strengthen this accent and we prepare you for your choice between the majors: ‘Social Work’ or ‘Personnel Management’. In the third year, an intensive internship and the application of your research skills give an even more practical filling-in of the two majors. Moreover, we don’t just pass over the numerous possibilities of getting to meet the international and intercultural components of the social work.

Social Work

In this major you learn how to deal with clients and their direct environment. Various questions (of help) concerning integration in society, refugee shelters and career counselling receive ample treatment. As a social worker, you treat these questions critically and alertly. You consider them and you take care of the man in need of help. Discretion and duty of professional confidentiality are essential. In many cases, you will have to refer people to experts. This requires a reliable choice and a prepared content-knowledge of the organisations that can offer assistance.

Personnel Management

The personnel management of many organizations is more and more characterised by attention for the individual employee and his specific talents. Within organisations in the profit and non-profit sector you cooperate on the development and the optimal usability of these talents. In this major you evolve to a specialist in Human Resources Management. You learn to coordinate the expectations of employees and organisations, without losing the balance between the social and the economic objectives out of sight.

The social work profession promotes social change, problem solving in human relationships and the empowerment and liberation of people to enhance well-being. Utilising theories of human behaviour and social systems, social work intervenes at the points where people interact with their environments. Principles of human rights and social justice are fundamental.

Its mission is to enable all people to develop their full potentials, enrich their lives, and prevent malfunction. Professional social work is focused on problem solving and change. As such social workers are change agents in society and in the lives of the individuals, families and communities they serve. Social work is an interrelated system of values, theory and practice.
